💡 Here are some example problem statements clients have overcome by working with Emily in 1:1 sessions
➡️ "My family does not listen to me or respect my ideas. It hurts my feelings and makes me feel invisible. I want to feel like I can express myself to my loved ones and actually be heard."
➡️ "My child is leaving for college soon, and I'm really worried that we will not be close anymore. It is really important to me that we maintain a close relationship even though they will be living far away during the school year."
➡️ "My partner and I are really struggling to set boundaries with our parents. We try, and they are dismissive with the classic, "Well, I'm his mother, so XYZ," and "Well, I'm her father, so XYZ," when their being our parent is totally unrelated to the issue. Our parents' behavior alienates us, making one partner feel shoved out of larger family conversations. We need help building a respectful relationship with our in-laws so we can all get along and support one another. Most importantly, though, my partner and I need help protecting our loving relationship from any backlash we receive when we set boundaries with our parents."
➡️ "My family is having a really hard time accepting me after I came out to them. It breaks my heart that we don't communicate as we used to; we were all so close, especially my siblings and I, as well as my mom and I. I need help building a healthy family dynamic with them in which I feel like they respect my identity and we can be close again."
